The First Congregational Church of Ellsworth will be hosting a public supper on Saturday, February 25th, from 5 to 7 pm. The cost is $8.00 per person or $20.00 per family; it’s free for children under 5. The menu includes fish chowder or corn chowder, salad, rolls, home-made desserts, coffee, tea and milk. This supper is part of an on-going fund-raising project to improve handicap accessibility in and around the church, and to support the upcoming bicentennial anniversary celebration. The church is located on the corner of Church Street and State Street in Ellsworth. All are welcome!

The First United Methodist Church at 703 Essex Street in Bangor will hold a “Lasagna Dinner” on Saturday 2/25/12 between 5 and 6PM. Proceeds to benefit the United Methodist Church Missions and the Ecumenical Food Cupboard. There will be a talent show following at 6PM!

Adoptions Plus will have a bake sale and white elephant sale on February 25th from 9Am until 3pm at the Dexter Fire Station on Church Street. The “Orrington’s Got Talent” Variety Show is an amateur talent production and is a fundraiser for The Curran Homestead Living History Farm & Museum. “It is meant to be in the spirit of wholesome family fun, entertainment and a showcase for local entertainment enthusiasts,” according to Richard Stockford, Chair of the Farm’s Board of Directors. “The show, which will be held at Orrington’s Center Drive School on Sunday, March 11 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., is open to most types of acts such as vocal, comedy, dance, reading, instrumental, etc. (fit for family members to enjoy) which will be chosen by a panel of judges on Sunday, February 26, when auditions are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at Center Drive School in Orrington!
The “Battle Of the Badges”, Police VS Firefighters! This is a benefit basketball game that will happen Thursday March 1st at the Alfond Youth Center Gym in Waterville! Doors Open at 6:30PM, $5 per person, 10 and under get in free! Proceeds benefit the South End Teen Center of Waterville!
The First Friday Coffeehouse will happen on March 2nd at the Northeast Harbor Library, between 7-9PM. It’s a evening of open microphone with Blue Gene the MC. All performing artists welcome. Refreshments will be for sale. Donations welcome at the door.
The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Team Holy Walkamoles will be hosting an indoor yard sale at the Brewer Eagles Club on Saturday, March 3 from 8a-1p. Admission is free to this event, and all proceeds will benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer non-profit organization. We are also seeking vendors and persons interested in renting a table to sell their goods or promote their business. Tables are $10 each with discounts for multiple tables. Nokomis Regional High School's Project Graduation is hosting a concert with Yellow Brick Road an Elton John Tribute Band on Saturday, March 10th at 7:00pm. Tickets are $10.00 each for general admission seating, available at Bear's One-Stop in Newport or at the door. All proceeds will benefit Class of 2012 Project Graduation.
The Brewer Public Library is looking for Legos and Duplo Blocks. We are looking for any donations of new or gently used Legos and Duplo Blocks. We are creating a Lego Club for the children in the surrounding area. Please help us out in creating this incredible program for the children! Mainebiz will host the Greater Bangor business community at the Hilton Garden Inn on Wednesday, March 21stfrom 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. during their On the Road with Mainebiz series. The event will bring out business leaders in the area along with Mainebiz staffers including Publisher Donna Brassard and Editor Carol Coultas. Guests will enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The celebration is hoped to encourage business leaders from not just the Greater Bangor area, but surrounding areas to help businesses network and exchange ideas. Hancock County Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce it’s First Annual Spring Mud Walk to benefit the Alley Family in Hancock. The walk will be held on April 28th with registration beginning at 8am at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Ellsworth and all walks begin at 9am. Three distances will be offered: 10K, 5K and 1 mile. Walkers that finish the course along Coastal Route 1 will be nourished by a pancake breakfast hosted by St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
